Rights Respecting School
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
The forty-two articles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) give every child rights which mirror the human rights that most of us are familiar with.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award recognises achievement in putting the CRC at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers/adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.
We were the first middle school in Dorset (and, as far as we know, the UK!) to achieve both the level 1 and 2 awards.
